Laser Aftercare

Laser Hair Removal Prep:

- Shave the areas to be treated the night before a session. Unlike waxing, we do not need to see the outer growth of the hair to remove it.

- Skin should be free of any fake tan and it’s vital not to undergo sun or tanning bed exposure 4 weeks before starting your laser hair removal sessions.

- Wear a SPF 50 and keep the skin thoroughly moisturised.

- For laser hair removal to work, there needs to be a hair follicle present! Do not wax, pluck, or epilate for up to 4 weeks before treatment.

- Shaving or trimming short as possible is acceptable as this does not eliminate the hair follicle beneath the surface of the skin.

- Before a treatment of laser hair removal, make sure that your skin is clean, dry and free from any cosmetics, lotions, deodorants or make up.

Wear loose and comfy clothing to your appointment so that you can easily expose the areas to be treated and feel comfortable after the session.

Laser Hair Removal Aftercare:

- Do not pluck or wax any hair of the area that was treated you can now only shave or trim in between sessions.

- Exfoliate the area when any redness has subsided. This will be approximately one to two weeks after your appointment.

- Avoid extremely hot baths, showers, or steam rooms for at least 48 hours, post-treatment.

- Apply aloe vera gel for 48 hours after, this will help to soothe the skin.

- Avoid any sun or sunbeds for the duration of your course.

- Mineral make-up may be used on any facial areas treated. To avoid any irritation, other cosmetics should be avoided until the skin has had time to heal.

- Avoid the use of deodorants for 24 hours after your treatment, to avoid irritation of the skin.

- Itching is a rare side effect of laser hair removal. However, if this occurs, it’s important not to scratch the affected area as this can break the skin, causing a scab which could lead to scarring.

- Avoiding excessive exercise for up to 48 hours following treatment.

Waxing Aftercare

- No heat treatments (sunbeds, saunas, sunbathing, hot baths/showers) for 24 hours

- Avoid excessive exercise and swimming for 24 hours

- For facial waxing, no make up over the area for 24 hours

- No perfumed products on the area for 24 hours and apply Aloe Vera gel or Tea Tree lotion

- For body waxing avoid tight clothing

- We recommend exfoliating once the hairs start coming through to avoid ingrowing hairs

Cryopen Aftercare

What to expect from all Cryopen treatments?

- The histamine in the area treated will create an itchy sensation for about ten minutes, do not worry as this is normal

- The area treated will look inflamed and can also be red/darker

- Blistering can happen with any cryotherapy treatment and is indiscriminate. The blister may last anything from a few hours to a few days depending on the area. Remember that a blister is the natural response to protect the treated area and will disappear once the crust begins to form on the surface of the skin.

If a blister does appear:

- Leave it alone, don’t pop it, it will go down on its own

- If it pops, weeping may occur so you can use a non-alcoholic baby wipe to remove any debris from the area affected should the blister burst. An adhesive dressing such as a plaster can be used to cover the area. You can also use Savlon or Germolene to prevent any infection

General healing expectations:

- If the small crust has not fallen off after four weeks, please wait until it has done before contacting the clinic. Skin sometimes takes longer to regenerate.

- If the skin being treated is tanned, please remember it will remove the tan and repigment to the original skin colour.

- Any treatments that do not heal after six weeks should be reviewed by your doctor or dermatologist.

- If your immune system is in any way compromised, this may affect healing or possibly mean that the area treated may need further treatment.

How to look after your treated area:

- Please use sunblock (minimum factor 50) on any pigmentation removal until it has repigmented, this may take up to eight weeks. Do not pick the area.

- You can continue to use make up, deodorants or perfumes on treated areas, but try and leave for as long as you can on the day of the treatment.

Electrolysis Aftercare

- No heat treatments (sunbeds, saunas, sunbathing, hot baths/showers) for 24 hours before or after

- No make up on the treated area for 24 hours after the treatment

- No products on the area except for aloe vera gel for 24 hours after treatment. Continue this for longer if necessary

- No swimming for 24 hours after

- No excessive exercise for 12 hours after treatment

- No bleaching for at least 3 days before and after treatment

 - If there is a prolonged reaction to the skin, please let us know

Shellac Aftercare

- When doing household cleaning and gardening or using harsh chemical products, you must wear gloves to protect the shellac, otherwise it can lift or chip

- When on holiday, be careful when using sun creams/oils and swimming in chlorine water make sure to rinse hands after these to avoid shellac lifting or discolouring

- Do not pick them off, incorrect removal of the shellac can damage the surface of your nails, so we recommend coming into the salon for a professional removal

Facials Aftercare

- Avoid wearing make-up for at least 24 hours after a facial treatment.

- Do not undertake any other face treatments within 48 hours of having a facial.

- Avoid sunbathing for up to 24 hours.

- Avoid direct heat, such as saunas, hot baths, showers.

- Do not apply any other exfoliating skincare products for 72 hours after having a facial.

LVL & Tint Aftercare

- Be gentle with your lashes; no rubbing.

- Do not get your lashes wet for the first 24 hrs.

- Avoid Sauna/Steam rooms for 24hrs as may weaken the effect of the lift.

- No eye make-up for 24 hours.

- Swimming should be avoided for at least 24hrs

Massage Aftercare

- Drink plenty of water to help flush all the toxins out your system

- Try not to do anything too strenuous for the rest of the day, and ideally go home and now relax and let the oils sink into your skin

Spray Tan Aftercare

- Leave tan on for 8 hours before washing off. If you are sleeping in it overnight, do not worry after the 8 hours as it has stopped developing by then anyway

- Until the 8 hours are up, do not get your tan wet in anyway, including being careful with drinking

- Do not do anything strenuous after where you will be perspiring

- When you have showered, make sure you pat yourself dry and do not rub too harsh with a towel

- To keep your tan lasting longer, make sure you are moisturising daily and taking showers rather than soaks in a bath

- Avoid swimming if possible as it strips the tan quicker

- When your ready to remove the tan, have a long soak in the bath and then exfoliate everywhere to buff off tan

- If booking in as a bride/bridesmaid, we recommend having a trial tan before the actual wedding day
